my grandfather. the landing at nicatous lake in 1994.
the half sunken boathouse was something i spent my whole life dreaming of. i feel like i spent a lifetime living below the surface of the water, in summer and in winter when ice sealed me beneath to navigate the unfrozen icy waters within the submerged structure.
when my grandfather and great grandmother passed away in ‘08 i imagined the boathouse rising up from the water and floating away as if torn away by a tornado.
